Our story

Insight Interfaces was founded to commercialize Mirror | Mirror. Its founders developed a roadmap for the future of collaborative user interfaces, applying their backgrounds in neuroscience, computer vision, and human-centered design at a federally funded research and development center. That center was The MITRE Corporation, from which Insight Interfaces licensed and then purchased the patent and its attendant intellectual property outright. Mirror | Mirror’s patented technology for remote collaboration is the first step in the journey.

Mirror | Mirror improves remote and in-person collaboration by capitalizing on the social cues that make communication effective, integrating them with shared visual media like presentations and documents. It enhances understanding by fully utilizing human visual attention and visuomotor coordination, and reducing the need for limited working memory resources.
